TermExplanation
whole-cell-has-focus modeFor any spread sheet, the editing mode in which the whole of a cell has focus. For any spread sheet cell, the editing mode in which the whole of the cell has focus. In this mode, no text cursor (typically, I-cursor) is shown, and the input replaces the contents of the cell, which is different from the cell-contents-are-edited mode. For example, when a cell is single-clicked, the spread sheet is in the whole-cell-has-focus mode.
cell-contents-are-edited modeFor any spread sheet, the editing mode in which the contents of a cell are edited. For any spread sheet cell, the editing mode in which the contents of the cell are edited. In this mode, the text cursor (typically, the I-cursor) may be inside the cell, but not necessarily so (as when the 'Input line' text box has focus), but anyway, the input goes into the specific position of the cell contents, which is different from the whole-cell-has-focus mode. For example, when a cell is double-clicked, the spread sheet and the cell are in the cell-contents-are-edited mode.
non-cell objectIn any spread sheet, any object that is not any cell. For example, any shape is a non-cell object.
non-cell-objects-are-selected modeFor any spread sheet, the editing mode in which one or more non-cell objects are selected.
